This is my CotC page. I am the head of the Sect of Phalanx, a branch of the "Church" which deals with the fictional situation of people returning to the Forbidden Lands after the events of Shadow of the Colossus; specifically, the group of people who decide to worship Phalanx.

[edit] Characters

[edit] Tawnokoi

A stalwart dragon with silvery-black scales. Dragons such as he can live for tens of thousands of years, and as such he serves as not only a central character for the many stories revolving around the Sect but also plays an active role throughout. He is largely goodhearted and kind, and above all wishes to be a father who can raise a child in peace, though his circumstances make such a thing difficult.

Tawnokoi is the chieftain of a dragon tribe called the Shadowswords, which he named after the beautiful blades and weapons he is fond of crafting. Little does he know that there existed an ancient group of dragons also called the Shadowswords that wreaked havoc across the world a very long time ago. His tribe is now deeply hated, for other tribes presume a connection between Tawnokoi's Shadowsword tribe and the tribe of old. In Part IV of the Thief's Sermons, however, Tawnokoi finds that he has innate and largely uncontrollable abilities that may link him as a descendant of one of the dragons from the evil tribe of old.

The chieftain is extremely proficient with all manner of weapons, his tribe having suffered many attacks in the past from others. He can hardly bear to kill, but for him it is the only way to live, that he might one day show the world his true intentions.

At the end of the Church backstory, Tawnokoi leaves the Forbidden Lands forever, so that his tribe may more easily help cities and settlements threatened by the evil clutches of the Queen.

[edit] Fritjov

("Frit", for short.) A boy, nineteen years of age in The Thief's Sermons, who grew up around the Skyshrine community on the mesa overlooking the now-holy desert where the earthly remains of Phalanx lie. He is generally antagonized by the community for reasons he cannot discern, and generally looks to Tawnokoi, who frequents the area, to keep him safe and to have a friend.

Frit turns to thievery often as a way of getting back at his unfriendly community, often causing fights to break out when he steals an object from a group and plants it with rivals. His intentions are ultimately good, however, as he performs these heists just to draw nagative attention away from him.

When Tawnokoi makes his decision to leave the Forbidden Lands, Frit is devastated at the loss of his only friend. Not willing to endure the hate of his peers, he quickly steals items he will need for a long journey over a period of just a few nights. His stealing culminates with the attempted theft of Andrem's field journal by scaling the massive Skyshrine and taking a book with directions written in it. As he is about to leave the Lands to look for Tawnokoi, he finds to his horror that he has actually stolen the Book of Phalanx - the single tome that holds the church together - and that Andrem has desecrated the text with his writing.

He quickly flees the Lands, fearful that he will be captured or killed if caught.

[edit] Ekder

An average commoner from the Skyshrine Mesa. He has an affinity for books and history, and tries to dechiper Andrem's handwriting in the Book of Phalanx.

[edit] Tosaib

A strong guard from Balfon who gets involved with Ekder's plans to help Frit. Very loyal and steadfast, Tosaib is keen to protect his friends.

[edit] Andrem

The former leader of the Skyshrine, driven insane before Frit's grand heist. His defacing scribblings in the Book of Phalanx wish for Tawnokoi to die, and he uses the absence of the Book as a tool to drive a mob of people to kill him in the name of Phalanx. His mob is no match for the Shadowswords, however, and his mob quickly disperses after Tawnokoi reverses his favor.

[edit] Roanna

A kind dragon-priestess, bearing white scales and a love for the light. She first thinks herself doomed when she finds herself in Shadowsword territory after Andrem's mob attacks them, but she soon finds that the Shadowswords are certainly not the tribe the world makes them out to be.
