Gaius is the third colossus, resembling a gigantic knight. Wielding a blunt sword in its right hand, this immense giant is fought atop an ancient ruin submerged in a large lake on map square E2.

[edit] Path to the Colossus
The easiest way to get to the colossus is to exit the Shrine to the right. Head south across the landbridge and take the left route when the path splits (you previously took the lower route to go to Quadratus). Head southeast; hold up the sword to get the exact direction. The light leads you into a relatively short canyon; at the end of the canyon you will see the lake with the ruin in it, and a short cutscene will play. Jump into the water, heading for the fallen path jutting out of it. Run all the way to the end of this path to find a large section of ruin atop a huge spire. Jump and cling to the small railing, then make your way around until your back is to the arena (and you are as close to the arena as you can get). You must now jump off of the ledge to the arena; you won't die if you fail this jump, but you will have to swim and run a great deal to get back up. Once on the arena, climb up to the upper platform, where the colossus will awaken in a cutscene.
[edit] Weakspots
- On top of his head.
- On his torso. Use the Sword's light to pinpoint it.
- (Hard Mode) On the back of his left arm.
[edit] Quick walkthrough
As soon as there is a good deal of distance between you and the colossus, stand on the metallic plate in the center of the arena. If the conditions are right, Gaius will attempt to do the attack where he slams his sword into the earth. However, when his sword hits the plate, it will bounce violently off of it, and the shock of the blow will crumble the armor above his sword. The next time Gaius does the attack in the soil, you can now simply run up his sword and access his weakpoints.
Time Attack times (Normal, Hard): 6:00, 5:00
[edit] Tricks
It is possible to launch yourself off of Gaius's sword as he pulls it up from the ground. This trick is called "sword jumping" by fans of the game, and is a great strategy for Time Attack. (Video link coming soon)
[edit] Viral marketing campaign
Gaius is one of five colossi to be featured in an elaborate viral marketing campaign for the game. Specifically, he was the Peru Statue found by the Sayre Family.
