Dormin

Dormin is the mysterious entity residing in the Shrine of Worship, and the primary antagonist of Shadow of the Colossus. He makes a deal with Wander: slay the sixteen colossi and Mono will be resurrected. Each time a colossus is killed, several black tendrils come from the fatal wound and embed themselves in Wander's body. The player soon learns that these tendrils are the once-separated fragments of Dormin; as Wander is transported back to the Shrine for the last time, Dormin is able to "reassemble" himself, forming Wander's lifeless body into a giant colossus-like being. Lord Emon, whom this creature terrorizes in the main hall of the Shrine, makes his way to the back of the hall, throwing the Sword into the shallow pool. A whirlwind is created, and the shadowy giant is sucked in, though not before the giant's shadow is slowly stripped away to resemble Wander's figure.
Audibly, Dormin has both a male and female voice. As the colossi are killed, the female voice becomes far less audible (up to the point where it disappears completely at the end). This, and other aspects of Dormin, have caused endless speculation amongst fans: did Dormin's female half go towards resurrecting Mono? So is Dormin really evil?
